The Locust Grove Garden Fair happens every year around Mother’s Day. Vendors from all over the state and country come to sell their nature related wares at the gorgeous historic home. While the offerings consist of mainly plants, there are hidden pockets of natural beauty products, local honey and artisan products like hand woven baskets. Each booth is overflowing with treasures waiting to be discovered! Be sure to pick up a map at the visitors center so you don’t miss anything.
Stop by Pine View Nursery for a stunning maple tree or variegated lemon bush.
Meander over to Brian’s Botanicals for some unusual tropicals. Brian’s Botanicals has hardy bananas, canna lilies and elephant ears that stay out all winter long! You could make your own tropical paradise in your back yard!
In the afternoon actors dress in historical garb and walk around the show. Some may ask you about your funny box you are talking too (cellphone)! They are always in character.
Be sure to stop by Natures Bath Soap, their bees wax lotion is amazing for dry hands. The soaps they have looks and smells like candy!
After working up an appetite from shopping, grab some lunch at the food trucks or some fruit tea from the crab cake lady’s tent. Enjoy lunch and live music at the picnic tables in the shade of the historic home.
Till next year,
